Bokaro: Jharkhand - India: December 24, 2009 -IR Summary/Agencies:
JMM Chief Shibu Soren is in the high spirit after winning 18 assembly seats; he wants to go for the best bargain, he wants Chief Ministership of the state, nothing less than that, he said on Thursday. He further clarified that it is not an issue of 18 seats, it is an issue of popularity that matters and he deserves the highest seat of the state, if BJP or Congress wants to bargain in forming the government in Jharkand agreeing with his demand, he shall be happy to accept this offer for the sake of the state and its welfare at large.
"The JMM is the single largest party and I should be given the chance to form the government," Soren, who emerged as the king maker, told the media.
"Guruji (Soren) has always been the king and not the king maker ... the JMM holds the key," claimed Suprio Bhattacharya, the party's organizational secretary, indicating that nothing less than the chief minister's post for Soren would satisfy the rank and file.
The Congress-JVM(P) alliance with 25 seats has emerged the single largest alliance. Congress has got 14 and JVM-P 11. On the other hand, the BJP-JD (U) alliance had 20 seats in the 81-member House.
In short, everyone needs Soran and Soran needs the chair of the Chief Minister, the bargain is clear and the parties have no other choice but to go for it, let us which party moves first and win.
