No fair Verdict anticipated on Iran’s Presidential Election

MIL/BBC/Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist from India, Jun 28, 2009

Tehran: June 20, 2009 – IR Summary/BBC-   Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist from India, President, National Integraion Assembly (NIA), while giving his comments on Iran's  elections, in New Delhi said, " The expected verdict by Guardian Council may not be fair.

Dr. Raj Baldev further elaborated:  The Opposition leader of Iran Mir Hossein Mousavi, who has throughout been maintaining a main mission of re-running the vote, and who had refused to support the electoral authority's plan for a partial recount, is compelled by the circumstances and so he half heartedly accepted a review by the Guardian Council, who has already given its verdict backing President Ahmadinejad's re-election as a fair and final and as such there does not seem to be any reason to anticipate any favor for Mousavi and the people in general are likely to be disappointed on this type of mass rigging.

The  Guardian Council, who  backed President Ahmadinejad's re-election as a fair result said on Friday: “The presidential election is the "healthiest" held since the Iranian revolution in 1979”.

Thus, one thing gets clear that the supports of Mr. Mir Hossein Mousavi are not happy over the latest situation, which they feel is just an eye wash. They had launched demonstrations to get the elections annulled since a major fraud was played in the counting and even after sacrificing many lives in their protests, they do not look to be satisfied, it is just like going to be another rigging.

Mousavi’s supporters are sure that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has complete backing of the Guardian Council and that has made them demoralized on the new development of a verdict by an independent agency which they consider is Ahmadinejad’s baby and their verdict shall naturally come against their leader.

As per BBC:  Although President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was almost invisible when Tehran's streets were full of demonstrators, he is now out in public sounding very confident, says the BBC's Jeremy Bowen in Tehran.
