New Delhi: June 19, 2009 - Acer, which is known more for its computing terminal products, launched five new smartphones for the Indian market in keeping with the recent trend of computer manufacturers scaling their offerings in the mobile handset space particularly the smartphone segment.
“This official launch in India marks the first step of our Smart Handheld Business Group in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing mobile market. Acer’s new handhelds are in sync with the company’s history of innovation and commitment towards bringing quality products to life.
Our handhelds symbolize our pioneering technological advancement and continued focus on R&D, and these would prove to be a revolutionary product in enhancing the mobile user experience.” said Aymar de Lencquesaing, senior corporate VP, Acer Inc & president, smart handheld business group.
The new models include DX900, DX650, X960, F900 and M900. The DX900 is positioned as a dual-SIM phone while the DX650 is a dual-face design phone with touch screen on one side and finger-friendly keypad on other. The F900 and M900 are positioned around their mobile web browsing capabilities while the X960 is branded as a all-purpose phone.
Vision Distribution will handle the sales and distribution responsibilities of Acer’s smartphone range of handsets.
