Washington: December 1, 2008, Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist- President elect Barack Obama looks to be in a dilemma, the public opinion is slipping from his favor in terms of her new team, particularly his banking on Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as the rival turned secretary of state, Gen. James L. Jones, the former NATO commander, as national security Adviser, and Robert M. Gates, the current and future Defense Secretary.
Barack Obama is most probably introducing his national security team on Monday, and is likely to include two veteran cold warriors and a political rival whose records are not as clean as that of Barak Obama but the people should try to understand his strategy, he is genius and patriot and doesn’t want to take any decision in a hurry, which is to go a long way.
A common American feels that his three choices, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Gen James L. Jones and Robert M. Gates may not prove useful for various reasons, which they reserve to them.
It is not an easy affair for Obama to tackle the present problems being faced by the country and to bring all over situations under control, he needs the old guys and experienced people to help him for him in the initial stage so that he could rethink to make a new and competent team after a year or so. He wants to gain breathing time to start his administration and the people should appreciate his decision rather than to think otherwise.
In my opinion, Obama is chosen as Present in the most difficult circumstances, so he is thinking on the right track. To have a completely new team with little or no update experience or knowledge in certain areas, may not help the country, he wants to solve issues, bring changes in the larger interest of the common man.
To win election was different, to make speeches was different, but to run an efficient administration under uneven circumstances is different. Mr. Obama knows that even a single wrong step at this stage on his part can further degrade the image of America and that he doesn’t want his country to let down at any cost.
Mr. Obama is an efficient guy, a great responsible first citizen, he wants to reform his country and for that he needs time to settle by planning how to restore the deteriorating economy that has crushed the American people and the industry on one side and the countries directly connected to America on the other.
The trade of dependent countries has fallen down substantially. Americans want to survive and have thus adopted controlled and restricted ways of living by shedding all unnecessary expenses whatever way they can find to save.
As regards making a grip on failed economy which has been saved with heavy bailouts, Mr. Obama is interested to know what steps he should take to rebuild the nation in terms of boosting industry as a whole and banks in particular within a reasonable span of time. The financial institutions and banks having been loaning money blindly to the people and were liberal in the area of estates and that was one of the main reasons for failure of the economy.
Barak Obama wishes to be cautious whether he should reduce the number of American combat troops or reduce them, and also to rebuild the name of America and its further decisions in respect of Iraq, Taliban, Afghanistan and Pakistan, where America has proved to be failure rather than successful, their policy has no effect except that lot of dollars are wasted on such policies and made the country at a miserable condition.
Mr. Obama has to confront with the Democratic Party on the issue like whether the billion dollars in aid to reconstruct Afghanistan that Mr. Obama promised during the campaign should now be spent on job-creation projects at home or what could be the best alternative?
Mr. Obama should be given to study and find out what went wrong during the regime of President Bush and after ascertaining the causes, he should make changes in his new team and at the same to make use of the services of Hillary Rodham Clinton as the rival turned secretary of state; Gen. James L. Jones, the former NATO commander, as national security Adviser, and Robert M. Gates, the current and future Defense Secretary, is not a wrong decision but shall prove to be highly advantageous in interest of the country at large.
