New Delhi, India: November 22, 2008 – Dr. Raj Baldev, Cosmo Theorist, MIL (Film Division) - Karan Johar is a great producer & director, well known for the quality films that he has previously produced, and in this film also he inducted very good entertainment for a common man, but at the same time downgraded the quality of his film in the eyes of the majority section, who felt after seeing the film Johar has selected a wrong topic.
Instead of giving a good lesson, it has given certain clear instincts to encourage the young in the area of homosexuality and such like feelings, which at least do not suit the higher moral society and the opinion is divided.
This film has a unique theme, the topic of gay, which is picking up curiosity and attention in India to some extent among a section of the young these days, despite Govt. opposition in the judiciary where the PIL is pending filed in favor of granting recognition to gays and ultimately gay marriages.
The controversy over legalizing homosexuality became the subject of a petition in court for the first time in 2001. An NGO Naz Foundation had filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court demanding the striking down of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.
The Indian Penal Code was initially formulated by the British in 1860 and had introduced Section 377 under which section homosexuality can invited punishment, even life imprisonment. Even though UK government repealed this law in 1967, India retained this on moral as well as health grounds.
The High Court Delhi feels that homosexuality is not a health hazard but the Health Ministry is against dropping the clause against the homosexuality.
''I think this fight is about human rights. This fight is about privacy, dignity and equality. This section is abrasive in violating the human rights of those who are of same sex defining themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender,'' says Sumit Baudh, member of Voices Against 377.
So far the entertaining part is concerned, Director Tarun Mansukhani, has made this film a successful entertaining romantic comedy, the first part of it superb but the other part, the story lost its thread and ended as if scripted by an immature mind.
The acting of Abhishek Bachchan (Sameer), John Abraham (Kunal), Priyanka Chopra (Neha) and Kirron Kher (Sameer’s mother) is superb. Other stars also justified their roles including Boby Duel.
The story is of two guys who want a flat urgently and the flat owner is a lady who wants to rent it only to those who are married couple. They pretended to be gay and got the flat. There was Neha in the flat, with whom they became friendly and developed strong feelings for her but Neha felt safe since both of them were gay not interested in the girls. Ultimately, she found another guy, a married person, Bobby Duel, her boss, who had a son and was interested to marry her. When Sameer and Kunal came to know, they were jealous and wanted that Priyanka (Neha) should not to marry him.
See it yourself, you will enjoy except that it gives a reverse lesson against the Indian tradition and nature’s law.
All songs, location shooting and music attract the audience, the film has been shot with great sets and locations of big hotels, with glamorous look but may hurt those who believe in the Indian tradition and way of life and respect nature.
Stars: *** for entertainment **for moral of friendship, Lesson: * for end
