Mumbai: September 27, 2008 - The September 24 release of Hari Puttar, a Comedy of Terrors, which had a special premiere for children and their parents was an eagerly awaited event. A funny romp of two children who are left to ward off two thieves, the kiddie film is aimed at both the child and the child inside the adult as well.

The Comedy of Terrors had its scary pre-release momentsbut all ended well when the Delhi High court rejected a case filed by Warner Bros seeking an injunction because of the alleged similarity of its title with Harry Potter.

Hari Puttar (Zain Khan) is a 10-year-old lad who has moved from India to the UK. When the family leaves home on a holiday, Hari and cousin Tuk Tuk (Swini Khara from Cheeni Kum) are left to confront two intruders.

Distributor Anil Thadani hopes Hari will be a hit. "Hari Puttar is definitely a well made film and has all the ingredients to work at the box office,'' he said. Munnish Purri, COO of Mirchi Movies, adds that they have been "very focused' ' in their strategy.

Hari Puttar has tied up with Britannia, a biscuit brand, and has created a special character called Funtoon who features in it.

Film critics have often lamented the fact that children's cinema is a poorly developed genre in India unlike, say, the fare offered in countries like Iran and Brazil.Apart from a few animated capers and films like Makdi and The Blue Umbrella, there has hardly been any kiddie film activity.
