New Delhi: September 23, 2008 - Hari Puttar – A Comedy of Terrors is finally out of trouble and ready to hit the screens. The case that Warner Bros had filed against the film last month, on the grounds that its title sounded too similar to Harry Potter, has been dismissed. Warner Bros has the rights to the Harry Potter movies.
Yesterday, the Delhi High Court dismissed their case. Judge Reva Khetrapal said that there was no “commonality” between their names. Munish Purii, COO, Mirchi Movies, the makers of the film, says that they’re elated.
“It’s a fantastic victory for us. Judge Khetrapal dismissed Warner Bros’ case against our movie and also told them that the case was brought up in a very untimely manner, just before the release of the movie. In terms of their choosing the date on which they filed the case, the conduct of Warner Bros was also not appreciated by the court. Today onwards, Zain Khan is India’s Hari Puttar, officially. And Friday is the official release date. Now, the real challenge at the Box Office is what we’re going to wait for. It’s a happy time for all of us,” said Munish.
