Nellore (AP), India: July 178, 2008 – IR Summary/Agencie -United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government. Party Chief Sonia Gandhi, has been very soft to the Left parties while speaking about them till recently she always used cautious language but now she looks to have changed her tune.
During her first public remarks against her erstwhile Left alliance, she has categorically declared in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh today that Indo-US Nuclear Deal is in the interest of the nation and cannot be compromised for the opposition sake of the left parties. “We shall not compromise on our foreign policy", she said.
"We will not compromise on the nuclear deal because it is in the national interest. We need latest nuclear technology and fuel power from other countries," Gandhi said at a crowded rally in this Andhra Pradesh town, about 500 km from the state capital Hyderabad.
Even Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that though the harsh step taken by the Govt. is risky but nation’s interest is above than anything else. Indo-US Deal is in the national interest; hence Congress has not done any mistake in taking a risk of proving their majority in Parliament on 22 July, 2008.
In comments that come just five days before the trust vote in parliament, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said: "We don't need a certificate (on the deal) from any party."
