Former AIIMS employee seeks police action against Venugopa MIL/ET/IANS, Jun 25, 2008. New Delhi: June 25, 2008 B.K. Dash, former public relations officer of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), wants the police to take action against the premier medical institute's director P. Venugopal and 11 others for allegedly keeping his personal documents illegally. Dash approached the police to file a first information report (FIR) against AIIMS officials Tuesday. "I was forced to take this step because I have been running from pillar to post for the past six years to get back my personal belongings. Its my right to have them and whosoever denies me the right should be punished,"" Dash said. Dash's office was vandalised by some AIIMS employees on Oct 7, 2002 while he was in Orissa on leave. The administration sealed the office after the incident and refused to let Dash retrieve his personal belongings. Dash quit the institute on Jan 31, 2007 and moved the Delhi High Court to get his personal documents, including his passport, PAN card and ownership document of his flat, back from AIIMS. On May 9, the AIIMS counsel offered in court to return Dash's documents. But only some unimportant documents were given to him. 'They gave me only some unimportant papers and photographs that were in my office. My passport, PAN card and other documents were not returned. When I inquired about those papers, they told me they don't have anything more to give me,' Dash said. Dash filed a complaint in the Defence Colony police station Tuesday. A copy was also sent to the Delhi Police commissioner. 'It's been over a month now that I was promised my documents will be returned but I did not get them back. So I had no other option but to file a police complaint,' said Dash. The next hearing of the case will be on Aug. 8.
