FIR filed against Jaya Bachchan

Lucknow, June 24, 2008 - Bringing more trouble for Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, an FIR has been filed against its MP Jaya Bachchan for giving wrong information in her Rajya Sabha nomination papers.
The charge is that she had not mentioned two properties in Barabanki. A complaint was filed before the Election Commission.
The Commission referred the matter to the Vidhan Sabha, which has said on the face that there was enough evidence to show Jaya Bachchan was indeed guilty of the charge.
The principal secretary to the state assembly has directed the Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police to file the FIR against the actress-turned-politician. She had allegedly concealed information about her property in her June 1, 2006 affidavit while filing her nomination. (With IANS inputs)
